#GETYOURGLISTENON

#GetYourGlistenOn at the Parl with the LB Brand and @thishappymess   As busy women, who have a million things to multitask, our own health and sanity are often not prioritized. I’ve noticed that as time has sped by me, and the roles that define me have shifted, I absolutely need to continue prioritizing my physical well-being because for me, it is directly tied to my emotional and mental states. However, back to the being busy part- how do we fit it all in when our plates already feel overloaded? The answer for me simply is getting creative with my workouts. Being able to incorporate a workout into daily, real life is key to me because I don’t always have the energy or time to wake up an hour before my son, and I can’t seem to bring myself to do it once he is asleep at night, because quite frankly, I need the time to just do nothing! So putting on one of my favorite LB Brand tops, incorporating my toddler and heading to the …

Parivrtta Janu Sirsasana – Revolved Head to Knee Pose Remember the first time you discovered you were pregnant? All the excitement and the anticipation to finally ‘look pregnant‘ and to feel the ‘flutters‘ of your baby? The anticipation is soon shadowed by fatigue, sore breasts, heartburn or morning sickness and pain and tightness in the hips and back. We’ve all had it one way or another, back pain that is! From getting out of bed too quickly, sitting too long or from carrying our sweet babies on one hip – consistently. As we age, so does the strength and flexibility of our spine. I recently travelled with a Physiotherapist friend of mine on our way to instruct a teacher training and she quite precisely told me me ‘every single day our bodies are literally decomposing’. Not in a harmful way but in a way where as we age we need to become aware of the constant changes in our bodies and to be mindful and accepting of these changes. The first transformational shift for women …

I look over to my now two-year old shoving kale salad in his mouth from my bowl, as he already finished his, and I am overcome with a sense of pride. Every time I work out with him, I catch him huffing and puffing, doing baby burpees or squats while he watches me out of the corner of his eye. His confidence is contagious and I wish it was something that didn’t get tainted as we grow and learn. Especially with our images of our own bodies, our own self-love. I loved being pregnant, once I found out I was pregnant. You see, my husband and I were told that after his first bout with Testicular Cancer in 2010, surgeries and extensive Chemotherapy, there was NO way he could have children naturally. Two years later, he was diagnosed with Cancer a second time, just as we found out we were miraculously expecting our first, and only child (as now, it is literally impossible to get pregnant naturally). At the time, my after-work job was as …

YOGA with Clare Newman

I’m so elated to share with the LB community the tremendous benefits of yoga as a whole, while pregnant or during the postpartum phase.  The practice of yoga is open to interpretation and is suitable for every Body.  I’m grateful to be surrounded with so many extraordinary mama’s around the globe and share my expertise so we can all grow stronger and become more aware. Each month I’ll write about a specific yoga pose to help mama’s during pregnancy and postpartum to find their inner strength and wisdom and as well as the awareness to stay present in each moment while watching our children grow and learn.  Connecting the body, mind and spirit in all aspects of our journey as mother’s and to remain our authentic Self in the process. As a mother of 3 babes under the age of 6, I know both the calm and the chaos of motherhood.  Finding my balance is often hard but it’s an honored experience.  I’m a Canadian Prairie girl who loves being outside, even in -20 degrees …
